The deputy of the Socialist Parliamentary Group Choni Ludeña requests the introduction of the Middle Level Cooking and Gastronomy Training Cycle, within the family of Hospitality and Tourism, "with the aim of professionalizing a vital economic sector for the local economy of the municipality of Los Alcazares ".
In a motion presented at the Regional Assembly, the deputy argues that the economy of Los Alcázares has been progressively transformed, from an agricultural and fisheries structure to a development of tourism services.
Los Alcázares has specialized in activities of the tertiary sector, due to the boom experienced by tourism in the area.
Thus, from a usual population of 15,349 inhabitants during most of the year, in the summer months it experiences a floating population growth that reaches up to one hundred thousand inhabitants.
Ludeña explained that for this reason, "the sector of cooking and gastronomy are in continuous expansion and each time requires a higher level of professional qualification, which will revert in the local economy and make it more competitive".
The socialist deputy put in value that from this conviction, the current Government of Spain has made a declaration of intentions of the future educational policy in our country, by calling the Ministry of Education also Vocational Training.
"A professional formation that works towards excellence and that obtains good professionals, competent and with knowledge of languages".
Vocational Training studies start to have a very relevant attraction.
In the opinion of Ludeña, "without a doubt, with specialties such as this one offers an opportunity to professionalize certain sectors of our regional economy, improve the employability and training of the students".
According to the Observatory of Occupations of the Public Employment Service of 2016, among the most claimed professions of Vocational Training are that of cooks, skilled workers in agricultural activities and fruit and vegetable canning workers.
He recalled that the municipality of Los Alcázares is in the area of ​​influence of the municipalities of San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar and Torre Pacheco and none of them has a cycle of intermediate level of Cooking and Gastronomy within the family of Hospitality, "so it represents a very attractive offer with a great future for the area."
