The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, after the corresponding investigation and thanks to citizen collaboration, has identified and located the driver of a tourism that was recorded circulating on the AP-7 motorway, Crevillente-Vera section, performing very risky maneuvers already a speed that far exceeded the established regulatory limits.

Finally, he has been denounced before the Provincial Headquarters of Traffic of Murcia for reckless driving.

Cash of the Traffic Sector of the Benemérita initiated the investigation when, thanks to the citizen collaboration, the existence of a video in a well-known social network was detected in which a driver could be seen circulating in a manifestly reckless way, possibly along the highway AP-7, in its toll-free section, between the province of Alicante and Cartagena.

In order to determine the identity of this driver and author of the video broadcast by social networks, the Traffic Research and Analysis Group (GIAT) of the Traffic Sector of the Civil Guard of Murcia carefully examined the recording, of only 9 seconds of duration, and could verify that this imprudence had been committed approximately at the height of kilometer 790, near the town of Los Alcázares, a section that is limited to a generic maximum speed due to the road of 120 km / h.

As a result of the investigation, the civil guards managed to identify and locate the 25-year-old male, Spanish and Cartagena driver who, given the evidence provided by the GIAT, expressly acknowledged being the author of the events, for which he has finally been denounced for reckless driving before the Provincial Traffic Headquarters.

Reckless driving, when it does not constitute a crime, is included in article 3 of the General Traffic Regulations and sanctioned by the Provincial Traffic Headquarters with 500 euros of fine and the deduction of 6 points of the driving license.

In this case, the short duration of the recorded video and the lack of other objective evidence prevent the criminal prosecution of the same before the judicial authority.

On the other hand, the Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia wants to appeal to the civic conscience of the population so that they notify the telephone 062 (Civil Guard) or 112 (Emergencies) or directly to patrols in service, when they encounter situations anomalous or irregular maneuvers that lead to think that the drivers do it under the influence of drugs or alcohol, with the purpose of being able to adopt the appropriate police measures so that these vehicles are intercepted and checked if their drivers are in the right conditions for circulate with security guarantees, avoiding the consequent risk.

Special surveillance and speed control campaign

Likewise, the Civil Guard Traffic Group recalls that during this week, between August 12 and 18, a special speed monitoring and control campaign is being carried out, within the annual calendar established by the General Traffic Directorate (DGT), which aims to reduce the accident rate resulting from not respecting the speed limits established by regulation and the serious harmful consequences that they cause.
