Fomento announces the public exposure of the feasibility study of the port of Los Alcázares as a first step for the new concession (19/04/2017)

The general director of Transport, Coast and Ports, Salvador García-Ayllón, announced that the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia publishes today the public exhibition of the economic feasibility study of the sports port of Los Alcázares, "which is the first step to To take to bid in short the concession of the port of the locality ".

García-Ayllón visited the Mar Menor Yacht Club this morning, accompanied by the mayor of Los Alcázares, Anastasio Bastida, and Club president Damián Martínez, and stated that "the public information of the project will last 20 days from its publication" .

The facilities of the marina of Los Alcázares are currently under an administrative concession, which is expired.

The new concession will have a term of 10 years and will involve the investment of more than half a million euros in works of conditioning and improvement of the port.

The sports basement of Los Alcázares has 6.444 square meters and 282 moorings.

It also has a space of more than 1,700 square meters destined to nautical club, commercial area, dry marina and light sailing zone.

The reform of the Ports Act of the Region of Murcia, recently approved, allows to tender for concessions that are expired with better conditions, by modifying the fee they pay, applying more rational and fair criteria, according to objective parameters such as number Of moorings, and avoiding inequalities as was the case so far, taking into account the surface of the dock or geographical location.

The regulations foresee reductions in the canon of up to 35 percent for the organization of sporting events, the performance of works of port interest and the celebration of environmental activities, among other actions.

In addition to the Los Alcázares concession, the Community will tender this year for the nautical ports of La Isleta (La Manga del Mar Menor) and Los Nietos, in order to improve the management and the nautical offer of these facilities.

The director general said that "the works of conditioning and improvement of berths and facilities will enable boosting nautical tourism, provide a better service to citizens and contribute to the deseasonalization of tourism."

The new regulations guarantee the economic viability of the ports and the improvement of their management, "since it offers legal certainty and advantages in the calculation of the canon," he said.

Likewise, the Ports Act regulates the procedure necessary for the management of abandoned vessels and in danger of sinking, simplifying the administrative procedures and streamlining the procedure to enable the Community to act quickly, covering the legal vacuum that existed until the reform of the rule.
