López Miras: "We are involved so that Los Alcázares becomes what it was before the floods in the shortest possible time" (19/06/2017)

The president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, said today that the regional government "is involved" with Los Alcazares "to ensure that, as soon as possible, it becomes the municipality that was before the floods last December" and that Caused heavy damages on roads, beaches, and educational and municipal centers, among others.

"The Community was in Los Alcázares from the beginning, carrying out actions and working on the recovery of this area," said the president during his visit to this municipality where he highlighted the work of the municipal government team and the set of The neighbors "during these months so hard".

He stressed that "seeing the images of what happened here is something that still overwhelms us" and "it is necessary and justice that we are here supporting and collaborating."

In this regard, the president recalled that the Murcia government has brokered for the Government of Spain to authorize the City of Los Alcázares to obtain a loan of 4 million euros, with a repayment term of 10 years, which will be paid in 50 Percent by the Community.

This will help expedite the aid needed "this magnificent coastal town of the Mar Menor" for the repair and repair of the municipal sports center and public roads of the municipality, with actions also in sewage, sidewalks or pavement replacement, among others.

Damage caused by the December storm

In the municipality of Los Alcázares, after the heavy rains last December, there were damages of 648,000 euros in beaches (state ownership) and 36.1 million euros in municipal property, between sports facilities, educational centers and Municipalities, nursing homes, theater, beaches, parks and gardens, vials, street lighting and sanitation, supply and rainwater networks.

The Community carried out various actions to recover roads and rural roads that were affected, and immediate settlement of health, social and educational centers.

According to data from the Insurance Compensation Consortium, only 3,742 applications were registered in Los Alcázares, of which 3,349 (89.5 percent) were managed, with a paid amount of approximately 15 million euros.
