The aviation museum opens its doors to new technologies (19/11/2010)

Audiovisual dioramas, interactive kiosks and digital panels back to the visitor to the first flight of seaplanes and even the bombing that residents of Los Alcazares suffered in the Civil War. The panels provide information in Spanish, German and English.

The military past of the town of Los Alcazares, which hosted the first seaplane base in the country, is mirrored in the aviation museum located very close to military installations.

So, this morning, Mayor Gil Encarna came to the reopening of the museum accompanied by the Director General of Tourism, Marina García Vidal and Vice President of the Tourist Consortium Commonwealth of Mar Menor, Jose Maria Garcia Ruiz.

The works carried out were aimed at the enhancement and improvement of facilities and involves an investment of 120,000 euros funded by the City Council and the Consortium equally.

The renovation work has been directed to get the visitor to move military past, as the first Spanish seaplane base, Los Alcazares.

For it has been completely renovated exhibition space, completely changing the itinerary of the visit.

On the other hand, are adapted and equipped to a modern museum, educational, achieving uniformity and cleaning and visual, using backlit panels with digital printing, you can even carry built exhibition displays or showcases.

To achieve greater wealth in the content, the museum has acquired new elements, such as models and dioramas, audiovisual, interactive kiosks where you can view and recreate various sections of the history of the airbase and Spanish aviation such as virtual flights, model planes, bombing practice ... All applications are available in several languages, initially Spanish, English and German.

It has also created a website for the museum equipped with scientific content, images, videos, links ... all with the aim of disseminating and publicizing the services, contents and news of the museum via the Internet.

Historical data

The Aviation Museum of Los Alcazares is located in a simple but harmonious building the thirties of the twentieth century, located next to the nearly century-old base in Los Alcazares, first seaplane base in Spain (1915) and one of the three aerodromes important Spanish military aircraft of the first half of last century.

The solar origin of the Aeronautical Museum was located on the farm owned by Mr.

José Nieto, with the initiative of the then head of the airport of Los Alcazares, the commander Burguete, build a building housing the poor and passers-by the town.

In the early thirties, José Nieto gave the site to the town of Los Alcazares, which builds the popular subscription known as "House of transient" or "Walker House."

During the Civil War was bought by the army and reformed villa, living there until the forties several officers and chiefs of the airfield of Los Alcazares.

Since then, this building was the residence of all members of the church body of Air Force who were destined to Los Alcazares.

In the eighties, the building was abandoned until the following decade was acquired by the City of Los Alcazares in order to convert it into a museum that would contribute to the recovery, collection and dissemination of the history of the base of Los Alcazares, cot of the hydro-Spanish military.
