The Los Alcázares treatment plant wetland will denitrify the water at a better price and in a more sustainable way (09/07/2018)

The wetland of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (EDAR) of Los Alcázares will achieve denitrification of water at a better price and in the most sustainable way with the new process that is put in place for the treatment of water, very simple and that achieves optimal levels.

The Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries launched this project to help clean the waters that may reach the Mar Menor in this area and promote the protection and full recovery of the salt lake.

With this project, for which 180,000 euros have been earmarked and which has a deadline of three months, the aim is to study the viability of the wetland, the parameters that can optimize its functioning, as well as improve its efficiency.

The counselor Miguel Angel of Love visited today the works of the wetland that will be ready at the end of August, and insisted on which "the Regional Government follows the road map of the projects that it had for the sustainability of the Mar Menor, and one of them is This wetland has been carried out through the Wastewater Treatment and Sanitation Entity (Esamur) and members of the Polytechnic Universities of Cartagena and Murcia. "

This wetland, said the counselor, "carries out different studies to see what is the best way to denitrify at a better price and in the best sustainable manner."

This green filter will become part of the network of artificial wetlands of the Autonomous Community in the Campo de Cartagena.

Del Amor explained that "it takes water from channel D7, treats it in the different phases and is returned with a guarantee of having a low concentration of nitrates."

The holder of Water, who was accompanied during his visit by the mayor of Los Alcázares, Anastasio Bastida, stressed that "they are using the land of the treatment plant of Los Alcázares, a pioneer with 10 years of operation, which debugs 2.5 cubic hectometres and 100 percent of the water is used by the irrigators ".

Finally, Del Amor stressed that it also uses fuzzy logic techniques, "which is a computer that manages the quality of the water at the entrance and exit and, depending on that water quality, eliminates nutrients and optimizes the energy destined for it".
