Citizen collaboration has been crucial for the resolution of the investigation
The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed the operation 'MERCANAR', an investigation aimed at clarifying the finding of a person in a street in Los Narejos-Los Alcázares seriously injured, which has culminated with the identification, location and detention of the alleged the perpetrator of the acts for crimes of attempted murder, serious injuries and omission of the duty to succor.
On June 16, in a street in Los Narejos, a distress call was issued to the emergency number 112 by a merchant of the weekly street market in the town, who observed a person lying on the street floor with serious injuries to the skull.
The victim, after being initially attended by the emergency services, given the extreme severity in which he was found, was taken directly to the Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital in Murcia.
The Civil Guard, after being alerted of the facts, initiated the corresponding device foreseen for these cases in order to find out the modus operandi and collect all the possible indications about the authorship of the same.
During the interviews with possible witnesses, the investigators found out that in the early morning of the commission of the crime, the alleged perpetrator was on several occasions with the victim in the leisure area where he was found.
In addition, a merchant from the market could observe how the alleged perpetrator was searching the pockets of the wounded man, at which point he made a photograph.
The alleged perpetrator, seeing that he had been photographed, went to the witness, threatening him and with intent to attack him, this act being frustrated by other merchants of the weekly market.
Thanks to the collaboration of the citizens and to the investigations carried out, the Civil Guards were able to narrow the circle of candidates as possible perpetrators of the events, obtaining as a result that a few days after the commission of the act the Benemérita had already identified the alleged aggressor.
The search device on the suspect has culminated during the last few days with the location, arrest and subsequent bringing to justice as alleged perpetrator of attempted murder, serious injuries and omission of the duty of assistance.
The male detainee, of British nationality, of 19 years, resident in Los Alcázares and with antecedents for similar crimes, along with the educated diligences, has been put at the disposal of the Court of Instruction number 3 of San Javier (Murcia).
