The president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, attended today the day of the elders of Los Alcázares, coinciding with the celebration of the Fiesta del Caldero, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 35th anniversary of municipal autonomy, where he reaffirmed the firm commitment of the Regional government with the elderly, "who are the most valuable asset of a society," he said.
"The Government will continue to bet and invest in older people with more budget, more places in residences and in senior centers," the president explained.
In order to promote active aging and personal autonomy, the Community has 17 social centers for elderly people that depend on the IMAS, for which it allocates 2 million euros each year.
In addition, López Miras stressed that currently the regional government serves more than 33,000 elderly people in a situation of dependency and promotes and promotes active aging policies "to improve their quality of life."
He added that "we are going to give value to our elders, those who for so many years have worked to turn the Region of Murcia into the best land in the world."
"Our policies will continue to ensure that our elders continue to be an asset, useful people with much to contribute," concluded the president.
