The union requires the Ministry of Education more human and material means for schools to return to normal as soon as possible without the students being affected.
STERM Intersindical has been able to verify that days after the passage of torrential rains and floods that seriously affected various centers in the Region they have not yet been able to recover normalcy.
Similarly, the union shows its concern about the destruction caused in many of the daily use materials in educational centers such as computers, photocopiers and teaching materials that have been lost during the floods.
From STERM Intersindical they ask Education that, as soon as possible, the educational centers affected by the storm be re-provided with these resources and that they do not make the educational centers be forced to meet these expenses with their own finances that already by themselves they are very limited.
IES Menarguez Costa de Los Alcázares, one of the most affected centers
The union denounces the serious case of IES Menárquez de Los Alcázares, where classes are still suspended and the mud inside the building as well as the courtyards is being removed.
The cleaning tasks, in the hands of a company hired by the Ministry of Education itself, are progressing at a slow pace, while the collaboration of volunteers has been prohibited.
José Manuel Fernández, co-spokesperson for STERM Intersindical, has indicated that "it is essential that the Ministry of Education act with greater diligence to resolve the deficiencies presented by these centers and that neither teachers nor students are affected."
He emphasizes that “to guarantee the health of the IES Menarguez Costa, it is necessary that the prefabricated classrooms that are in the center courtyard be replaced and the mud that is under it is replaced.
We also ask Education to speed up so that the centers can be provided with the resources they have lost as didactic material or furniture and that all the machinery of the center, including the boiler and the elevators, be repaired as soon as possible â€.
