As explained by Luengo, "the City Council must now approve the project in the Local Government Board, make the land available to the Community for the execution of the work, as well as show the commitment to receive the actions once they are completed, to guarantee their maintenance and exploitation by integrating it into the network of municipal collectors ".
Once the Ministry receives the approval of the project from the City Council, "the works are expected to be tendered in September and will have an execution period of 5 months." The total investment budget amounts to 1,998,285 euros. "This is one of the actions that the Community is planning to minimize the impact of the rains in the municipality and reduce flooding in the area, and in the coming weeks we will present new initiatives that will benefit the town and the protection of the Mar Menor "explained the counselor Antonio Luengo. Luengo explained that it is going to act in 971 meters.
The works begin in Labrador street, collecting rainwater from the area outside the urban area and, after crossing the school and Jaén street, passes through Orense, Joaquín Blume streets and 13 de Octubre avenue until joining the Avenida de La Libertad to Calle Telegrafos ". The project consists of three sections of precast reinforced concrete drawers.
It will run entirely under the carriageways, with their corresponding manholes, changes of direction, drains and transverse rains for collecting rainwater, and its collection capacity will be 7.12 m3 / s.
In addition, the pavement of the affected streets and all the services existing on its layout will be replaced.
