| The mayor explained at a press conference the main causes that have caused the municipality of Los Alcázares to currently have one of the highest infection rates in the Region | The mayor of Los Alcázares, Mario Cervera, has appeared this morning at a press conference to explain in detail to the residents of the municipality the causes and main factors that have caused that at this time, in view of the latest epidemiological data, Los Alcázares has one of the highest rates of Covid infection in the Region of Murcia. Cervera has wanted to record that, according to these latest data, provided by the health professionals of the Murcian Health Service in the different periodic meetings that they hold with the mayors of Mar Menor; contagions specifically address family units and sociocultural and work factors.
Specifically, workers in the primary sector of companies with the workplace outside the locality, and therefore, the affected-municipality relationship, "is practically based on being a dormitory location." In this sense, Cervera has stated that "for the Los Alcázares City Council it is very difficult, if not impossible, to manage measures that stop these infections and reduce this second wave of covid-19 since, in addition to not being in our municipality the centers of work that right now are the main source of contagion, the competence corresponds to other administrations.
For this reason we have asked the rest of the competent administrations absolute collaboration since they are the ones who must act to monitor, inspect and sanction with determination these work spaces " This situation, which is shared with the municipality of Torre Pacheco, has again led both mayors to demand that the Regional Government reconsider the current measure for the closure of the hotel industry in their municipalities, since "it has become clear that this This measure is not effective but on the contrary, in Los Alcázares the number of infections has increased despite it, causing a very serious damage to a sector that is not currently the main responsible for the infections ".
"Being, on the other hand, unintelligible that while the hotel industry is still closed while it has allowed the opening of the interior of the gaming halls" added the first mayor. Finally, Cervera has concluded his intervention by requesting that "on the part of the Autonomous Community, they decide to modify the scope of action of the sector to apply the measures, allow the opening of the hotel industry and act forcefully in the places where contagions are occurring" . Next Monday, the Regional Government has called a meeting with the mayors and Public Health to coordinate measures against Covid-19.
