The regional government supports the municipality of Los Alcazares with the implementation of immediate measures that enable the locality to obtain the necessary aid to mitigate the effects of the floods caused by the rainy season in December 2016, reported today in Council Of Government the Minister of Finance and Public Administrations, Andrés Carrillo.
The intermediation of the regional government has prompted the Government of the State to authorize the City of Los Alcazares to obtain a loan in the amount of four million euros and a repayment term of ten years, which will be borne by 50 percent by the Autonomous Community .
This investment will be used for the urgent repair of the sports pavilion of the town, the conditioning of roads with the reconstruction of sidewalks and pavement, and the replacement of the supply, sanitation and rainwater network, among other actions.
Regional Executive spokeswoman Noelia Arroyo said that "this measure will allow Los Alcázares to be able to dispose of the money in an imminent way to undertake priority actions immediately."
Likewise, he recalled that "the procedure for obtaining state aid is still ongoing."
Numerous damages in the locality
The persistence and the intensity of the rains of last December caused the flood of the municipality of Los Alcázares and great damages.
During the heavy rains one person died, 120 rescues were carried out in the town and 170 neighbors were evicted from their homes.
According to the report of the Government Delegation, the municipality recorded damages of 648,000 euros in beaches owned by the state and 36.1 million euros in municipal property, including sports facilities, educational centers , Nursing homes, municipal centers, theater, beaches, parks and gardens, vials, street lighting and sanitation, supply and rainwater networks.
The data provided by the City Council in Los Alcázares quantify 5,300 homes affected, with an assessment that amounts to 31.8 million euros, and damages in industries for the amount of 16.1 million euros.
According to information from the Insurance Compensation Consortium, a total of 9,735 applications were registered in the Region of Murcia, of which 89.2 percent have already been managed and a total of 32.8 million euros have been paid.
Of this total, 3,742 applications were registered in the municipality of Los Alcázares, 89.5 percent of which were equivalent to 3,349 applications, with a paid amount of about 15 million euros.
In addition, in the municipality of Los Alcázares 274 files were presented to qualify for state aid for damage to homes and equipment, of which 49 grants have already been granted and 74 are in the period of instruction.
To aid for damages in housing must be added those presented to the call of the Government of the Nation by municipalities, commercial establishments and communities of owners, with a total of 219 files.
