The mayor of Los Alcázares, Anastasio Bastida Gómez, the celebrations councilor, Maite Olmos Fuentes and the president of the Peñas Berberiscas Association, José Luis Giménez Vera, presented this morning the programming of the XIX Berber Raids of the Mar Menor, as every year , take place in the municipality during Holy Week.
The Berber Raids will kick off this Sunday at 8:00 pm with the proclamation of the Murcian comedian, dubbing actor and youtuber "Keunam", an act that will take place in the plenary hall of the Town Hall.
This year the party program will be full of activities.
For four days, Berber pirates, fishermen, troubadours, courtiers, buffoons and peasants will fill the municipality with sounds of the time and will wrap their streets with medieval airs.
The Berber Raids of the Mar Menor take visitors to a time when bloodthirsty Berber pirates invaded the shores of the Mar Menor in the midst of the conflict between Christianity and Islam.
The festivities will begin on Thursday March 29 in the morning with the opening of the medieval market, parades and exhibitions.
At nightfall, there will be the Burning of the Berber Flame and the Happys concert in the Festero Camp.
On Friday, March 30, one of the favorite acts by neighbors and visitors will take place, the Berber Desembarco, a theatrical performance that evokes the struggles between Berber pirates and peasants.
This battle will take place at the dock of the former Pescadería at 9:30 p.m.
The next day, there will be the Grand Parade of the peñas in which all the festeros will show their best clothes, in a parade that will take place at 9:00 a.m. and will cross the entire Avenida de la Libertad.
Streets and squares of the town will be protagonists of one of the largest medieval markets in Spain.
In the Parque de las Peñas Huertanas, the festive camp will be located and will be a constant scenario of itinerant activities and shows that will delight neighbors and visitors with the history and culture of the municipality.
Another year, the youngest will be the protagonists of numerous workshops and activities that will take place in the children's area located in the José Carrasco Park these days in which schoolchildren will enjoy their vacations.
