During the next four days, from today until Monday 11 August, a group of fifty young people from the region, between 16 and 24, will participate in the first phase of the cultural revitalization "At Least Five" since launched by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports through the Institute of Youth.
The initiative, aimed at populations less than 5,000 inhabitants in the Region of Murcia, is aimed at energizing the youth population aged between 14 and 30.
The municipalities that have joined the program "A least five" are those of Campos del Río, Albudeite, Ulea, Villanueva del Río Segura, Eyes, Ricote, Pliego, Librilla and Aledo.
The fifty young people will gather at the High Performance Centre in Los Alcazares, CAR 'Infanta Cristina', to know the characteristics of "Less Than Five."
This meeting also serves to facilitate access to leisure and free time for youth to be actively involved in the project and create dynamic youth group atmosphere among attendees.
Thus, during his stay in Los Alcazares can enjoy water activities, sports, workshops, excursions to the beach and cultural routes nearby.
Participants of the Regional Youth Meeting are part of youth organizations or entities established in the social and cultural life of the municipalities to which they belong.
The "At Least Five" will be launched next September and will last three years, to coincide with the next three school years (September 2008 to June 2011).
The initiative's objectives is to facilitate access to information and values education for young people participating municipalities, promote their participation in community affairs and activities and actions of different agencies and institutions in the Region of Murcia, stimulate exchange experiences and knowledge of other social, cultural and sports activities and provide social skills to youth groups that can form facilitating their access to decision-making process in the organization of activities.
This project is a youth intervention from the perspective of non-formal education in the field of socio-cultural.
Have different thematic areas of activity as leisure, recreation and youth tourism, social and voluntary participation, health and quality of life, training in leisure time, culture, sports and youth arts and youth information and new information technologies.
The methodology of "Less Than Five" will be the participation and young people's own initiative, so will be encouraged to organize their own activities.
The program will be continuously monitored to ascertain the involvement and participation of young people.
The Youth Institute shall coordinate the program in its entirety and will feature the collaboration of various local technical resources.
