The City of Los Alcazares, through the Local Government Board, has requested the relevant support to cover the damage caused by floods last September 28 that hit the area linking the town to Cartagena.
As we recall, the boulevards of Albujón, The Tangle and The Cypress overflowed due to the large amount of rain which caused the visit of President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, and the intervention of the Mobile Unit of the Army, Civil Protection , Fire, 112 troops, local police, municipal and many municipal workers who were forced to work overnight to evacuate several pockets of population in both municipalities, with a hundred people involved.
This request, addressed to the Segura basin in terms of the expansion of settlement and cleaning work flow, and are being implemented and are being very effective.
Also has filed an application to the Water Commissioner for mediation of the infrastructure works for the construction of a water collection canal on the outskirts of town.
Moreover, the Presidential has asked the economic cost to cover the logistical costs of care for the evacuation of hundreds of residents affected, and personal expenses he had to do intensive work of aid during the day and subsequent days and the cost of the machinery used.
The City Council also takes the willingness to thank the Directorate General of Civil Protection, the Segura basin, the Water Commission and the Mobile Unit of the Army for their efforts and willingness to tackle and solve in the future the problem of rain affect this area.
