The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, today presented a paper on golf, economy and tourism in the framework of the international conference 'Professional Golf Association in Europe' (PGA), held in Los Alcazares from 8 to November 15 and will consolidate the region in Europe as a new destination and strong commitment to golf tourism as one of the main pillars of the tourism economy.
In his statement, Cruz said that golf can be analyzed "as a sport, and tourism segment and as a lure to invest in second homes."
He added that "this is great particularity and its huge economic size, both for its potential to become the last decades in a specific tourism product and for its ability to link real estate development."
The Minister of Culture and Tourism said the "economic sustainability" of the sport, since "more than any other practice, especially in the south of Spain, can break the seasonality of the summer months by proposing a more equitable distribution of the number of visitors. "
Also highlighted the "territorial balance" involved, and "mainstreaming" as "being a specific product, has the ability to supply, feed and nurture other areas of wealth, acting as a conduit and vehicle for other activities and areas" .
Today, the Region has 21 high quality facilities, according to surveys conducted evaluation users, from Spain and Europe, that rate it a 8.1 out of 10.
"We've come a long and well, but by a professional and optimization of communication strategies and exploitation of our golf equipment, be able to be at the forefront in golf tourism, not only in Spain but in Europe," concluded Cross.
Congress activities
As the Association of European professional golf, the PGA makes an annual conference which brings together over 100 delegates from 30 countries to discuss the future of golf tourism and its impact on tourism.
Thus, among the activities organized during this conference is the Media Master, an event that will bring together leading golf journalists from Europe.
Are expected to attend about 45 reporters who, in addition to attending the sessions of Congress, visiting different resorts and main urban centers in the region.
Journalists specialized in tourism courses have a special interest in attending this conference, and that following the decision to make golf an Olympic sport, this is the first international forum in which top officials will attend the world of the sport.
In addition, parallel to the conference will be held a golf tournament for teams representing each of the countries that have the ability to play in five of the most representative complex of the Region of Murcia.
The performance by the third year, this conference, along with the Media Master in the Region of Murcia, is the result of agreement between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, through of Murcia Turística, and the Federation Regional Regional Courses different entities, both public and private.
